PARTI -
The
Mediterranean Programme of the Robert Schuman Centre at the European University
Institute in Florence (Italy) is organising the Second Mediterranean Social and
Political Research Meeting, which will take place from 21-25
March 2001 in Florence andwill bring together about 130 scholars from
the Mediterranean area, Europe, and elsewhere.
The
core structure of the Meeting is ten workshops in which scholars will present
original research papers. Each workshop is directed by one or two workshop
director (s) and will have around twelve participants. Below, the titles of the
workshops are listed.

PARTI II -
ELIGIBILITY
AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT
Candidates
should be actively pursuing research on the topic of the workshop they apply for
and should present an original paper closely in line with the indications of the
workshop directors.
There
are no nationality restrictions. Participants from Southern and Eastern
Mediterranean countries are strongly encouraged
to apply. All participant will receive significant travel allowances and
discounts on accommodation and meals (details on the Meeting web pages).
APPLICATIONS
AND DEADLINES
Before
applying, candidates should read the detailed information of each workshop of
the Meeting web pages.

The Deadline for
applications to be receiced is: 29 September 2000
·
Candidates for participation in a workshop apply by filling out the
application form and sending:
-
a CV ( max. five pages)
- an abstract of the
proposed paper (of 250 words in English).
- a five page description (double-spaced)
of the paper they intend to write.
·
Applications should prederably be sent by e-mail (medmeet
@ iue.it). In exceptional
cases, faxed or mailed applications are accepted.
·
Results of the selection
process will be communicated by mid-October 2000.
·
Papers should be received
by 12 January 2001
